Katherine McBride
INTERIOR DESIGNER, CKBD
“Great design starts with a profound understanding of the human element."
Katherine focuses on interior architecture, specializing in 3D modeling, space planning, lighting design, cabinetry and millwork design, materials, fixtures, and finishes.
Her designs pay homage to classic, mid-century modern style. She tends toward minimalism with Scandinavian influences and embraces a warm modernism combined with Northwest regional style.
Katherine says design “is not just about creating visually beautiful spaces. Great design starts with a profound understanding of the human element.”
Noting that American designer and architect Charles Eames focused on need as “the primary condition for design,” Katherine believes that a deep knowledge of the way we live in and interact with our environment is paramount to implementing a successful design strategy. She considers how we respond to the textures, light, and spatial arrangements of the built environment, knowing they all contribute to not only our enhanced well-being but to improved functionality.
