Giving Back

It’s Not Just About Us

At Artisans Group, we help more people have access to healthy, functional spaces. We contribute because we believe that, in strong communities, people use their skills to help each other thrive.

We Consult and Advocate

Habitat for Humanity

Artisans Group works with Habitat for Humanity to design neighborhoods that provide stable, affordable housing for seniors and for households that make 80% or less of area median income. These neighborhoods contain anywhere from 20-120 units — single family homes, townhouses, senior cottage housing, co-ops, or condos. Our master-planned neighborhoods incorporate indoor and outdoor gathering spaces where residents can build strong community connections. These large-scale designs are led by our belief that good design makes for good neighbors.

Homes First

We work with Homes First, a Thurston County-based agency that rents safe, affordable housing to people who need it most. We partner with them to advance the construction of ADUs and other diverse building typologies to provide more affordable housing options for people in Thurston County and beyond.

We Educate and Volunteer

Expanding Your Horizons

Every year, Roussa volunteers as a teacher at this regional event that encourages middle school girls to pursue STEAM subjects.

Passive House Accelerator

We also support Passive House Accelerator, an educational forum that helps get the word out about the benefits of Passive House design and that supports all the Passive House work in the industry.

Design Review Board, City of Olympia

Roussa sits on the Design Review Board to protect the character and nature of downtown Olympia.

American Institute of Architects Southwest Washington

Tessa is on the board of AIA Southwest Washington  and serves as co-chair of the Advocacy Committee. She is a founding member of the Women in Design group within the larger chapter.

Thurston County Chamber of Commerce

Tessa has been a Thurston County Chamber Trustee and Board member since 2022 and serves on the Business and Economic Development Committee.

Lectures

Each year our principals lecture across the country and our region. We’ve lectured at Syracuse University, University of Arizona, University of Oregon, The Evergreen State College, local middle and high schools, and at many other educational venues.
