Lake Cottage

Our client and the new owner of this home inherited very dated materials and functionality, including an open ensuite with glass block walls, an oppressive river rock surround for the small wood stove, several flooring types and transitions on the main level, an original mid 1990s kitchen and dark and dreary ¾ bath.

With eclectic taste, she asked us to design a home that felt very charming with a hint of quirkiness. Early on in our company’s history, we signed on for this project with an inordinately tight budget so we had to get creative and do a combination of salvaged materials, nicer finishes and new but thriftier components. Sparrow redesigned and sourced all materials for two bathrooms and small kitchen, including custom wall niches (tile for powder and wallpaper for the ensuite above the tub, replaced all light fixtures, designed a custom brick surround to replace the river rock surrounding her wood stove, and sourced flooring.
