Dubbed the “cutest artisanal market you ever did see” by Seattle Refined, Olympia’s highly anticipated 222 Market celebrated its grand opening this past November, and continues to be another successful addition to our bustling downtown. As the Design-Build firm for this project, we are thrilled with the public’s response and so are the owners whose dream was to create a uniquely wonderful gathering space.
Designed as an indoor open air market, 222 Market hosts a variety of artisanal restaurants and shops, and is quickly becoming a daily ritual and inspirational destination. Thurston Talk revels in a Date Night with dinner at the Bread Peddler Bistro. Evening Magazine aired a special on Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar. Seattle Magazine wants to send people to Olympia because of 222 Market. In addition to Seattle Refined’s terrific declaration mentioned above, they have a wonderful slideshow of photos by talented Poppi Photography that captures some of the magic happening at 222 Market.
Such positive outcomes were the result of broad conversations with the owners. Their vision for the market was to create a space to help artisans be inspired and share that inspiration. The project required design that provides maximum natural light, an open floor plan and proper space for production equipment without feeling overtly industrial; ambiance AND practicality. Our award winning design team believes in a harmony of form and function, and proved once again that, with our thoughtful design, ambiance is accentuated, not sacrificed.
From first thoughts and napkin doodles, through computer modeling, construction and final handing over of the keys, all projects take close teamwork to remain focused on the client’s vision, and 222 Market was no exception. Being a Design-Build firm allows us to dedicate our entire focus into honoring that vision through a highly collaborative process, from beginning to end. Our exacting standards deliver absolute quality every step of the way.
It is wonderful to see the positivity this exciting new market brings to our community. Exciting things are happening in Olympia and we’re enthusiastic about our part.
To end on a festive and time sensitive note: this Sunday, February 12, there’s a Valentine’s Day party at 222 Market. If you haven’t already visited, get on down there and decorate a Valentine’s Cookie, experience Fleurae’s stunning Floral designs, eat delicious food and enjoy the energy and romance of a truly Olympian artisanal market.
