North Fork House

Located between two rivers on a beautiful piece of property, the North Fork house is characterized by its perpendicular stacking gable roofs and its bold linear presence on a landscape full of movement and water. By stacking the upper and main floor in this manner it created an opportunity to extend the upper level out and over the entry of the home, sheltering the arrival of its inhabitants and guests from the elements. A striking concrete wall separates the home’s entry and intimate front porch from its main interior and exterior entertaining spaces and blocks views and noise from the road.

Directly behind the front door a set of stairs divides the lower level between a primary bedroom and the home’s main entertaining spaces, the children’s bedrooms and playrooms are located upstairs. Stunning views of the surrounding landscape features informed a thoughtful placement of windows in the home. Expansive glazing at the lower level’s grand room provides sweeping views out onto the landscape and minimal openings on the northeast façade create a private oasis.
