Happy Spring everyone! There’s a lot going on here at Artisans Group, so let’s get right to it!
Historic 222 Market Welcomes Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen
On Friday, March 23, Olympia’s 222 Market welcomes the addition of local family owned Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen and its delicious Central Mexican meals. Augustin and Lupe Galicia will introduce their restaurant as part of the thriving downtown Olympia food scene and the historic 222 Market.
Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen embraces the 222 Market’s mix of functional and casually elegant community space - a space with historical authenticity, modern pop, and an homage to community roots. With crafted benches of reclaimed wood from Windfall Lumber, a Tequila and Mezcal back bar created from upcycled furniture, a repurposed countertop and an amazing mural painted by local artist Michael Villela and his father, Fernando Villela, make Dos Hermanos a totally excellent place to fully enjoy a meal.
As Food and Wine Magazine points out, Olympia’s cuisine scene is on the rise, and Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen is a delicious addition to our burgeoning city’s core.
Dos Hermanos opened their first mobile kitchen in 2013 as one of the first food trucks on Joint Base Lewis McChord and they built up a loyal following. Of their newest and most permanent location Lupe says, “we’re really looking forward to opening and being part of this Market.” Augustin adds, “it’s exciting to be part of, and we’re also excited to introduce our fans to the 222 Market and downtown Olympia. We think they’ll all love Sophie’s Scoops.”
With a soft opening scheduled for Friday, March 23rd, Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen will serve delicious tacos, tortas and more.
Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-8pm, Sundays 11am - 5pm, and closed on Mondays.
New Contemporary Pacific Northwest Home Complete
What a pleasure!
Have we mentioned that we feel extremely fortunate to work with our clients?! It bears repeating - our clients bring us their aspirations to improve the quality of their experience, and what a wonderful opportunity to help them realize these dreams.
We recently updated our website with interior photos of this wonderful home, which you can find by following this modern Pacific Northwest home link.
Designed for people who love art, the Pacific Northwest, and their time together, this modern home welcomes a warming natural light by incorporating a unique vernacular style of architecture with a thorough understanding of its site and solar exposure. The open floor plan and walled yet open entry with its attached island gives them both a sense of separation and space for working together. We're excited to share it with you.
Tacoma’s Proctor District Gets Excited For New Olympia Coffee Roasting Company Café
Spring is hopping, and Tacoma is bursting at the scenes.
The Historic Proctor District is all abloom with the kick-off of the Proctor Farmers’ Market this weekend (March 24th!) and we’re excited to share an update with you on Olympia Coffee Roasting Company’s newest location.
Opening this Spring as an immediate neighbor of the beautiful new Lapis store, Olympia Coffee’s newest café will feature onsite fresh small batch coffee roasting and an exquisite espresso bar worth floating over.
Located on the corner of N 26th and Proctor St., this café brings co-owner Oliver Stormshak back to his Tacoma roots, and brings Tacoma their first Olympia Coffee Roasting café.
We are honored to work with Olympia Coffee again, and we look forward to the big unveiling of their newest center of artistic coffee excellence.
West Seattle Revels In Their New Olympia Coffee Roasting Company Café
Speaking of Olympia Coffee Roasting Company…
As detailed in our last blog post, Olympia Coffee has a new West Seattle Café, and - it - is - a - hit. The neighborhood loves’em, it’s all over social media, and when we recently went in for permitting their sidewalk café (wait, what? Yes! shhh, top secret) the Seattle permitting specialist even raved over “everyone’s favorite new West Seattle spot!”
Congratulations everyone at Olympia Coffee on your latest endeavors. The depth of your care beautifully arrives in the high quality of your craft. Olympia is a better word because you share it.

Seattle Times Features Delphi Haus In Northwest Living
The Seattle Times' weekly Pacific NW Magazine featured Delphi Haus as part of its Northwest Living series, and the response has been fantastic.
Thank you Kelly and Laura for sharing your dream and going through this journey with us. What a long way we’ve come together, and what a beautiful experience it has been.
We look forward to hearing the stories you create in your amazing home.
New Modern Pacific Northwest Passive House Getting Really Close
Day by day we get closer to handing our clients the key to their new home, and as the Spring days get longer the excitement also continues to grow. We’ve been working closely with Beech Tree Woodworks to complete the custom cabinetry and seating that so elegantly brings the interior together.
We’re going through our rounds of inspection and punch list items over the next couple of weeks, and then - one of our favorite moments as a design-build firm - welcoming our clients to their beautiful new home.
Our clients have also graciously agreed to share their home with our community as part of this year’s South Sound Green Tour! (more on that below)
2018 Passive House Northwest Conference
March 29th & 30th, Olympia, WA, Hotel RL
Passive House Northwest Conference Webpage
Passive House Northwest invites all of us to gather, learn and discuss the advances being made in this proven building science. Far more energy efficient than the most stringent code (about 70% greater in the urban Pacific Northwest), Passive House works for the health of our environment and the people inside.
From their healthy Indoor Air Quality, to the quiet they provide, and the durability of their construction - Passive House is a seismic shift in building like we care for the future.
Our own Roussa Cassel will be teaching a Passive House class while Randy Foster and Owen Martin will both be presenting on our newest urban Passive House.
Building better isn’t magic, it’s building science. And while the name Passive House can make many people think of the 70’s Passive Solar movement, it’s much more than that. It’s about buildings that work for our environment and for the us who inhabit them.
Maybe we can change things up for a minute...Passive House...Awesome House.
2018 South Sound Green Tour
We’re happy to announce that the Green Tour which began around Olympia in 2008 is back!
This free for the public event is a great opportunity to see some of the sustainable work being accomplished in our community, and this year will feature sites in both Olympia and Tacoma where we can all meet and mingle with some of the movers and shakers in sustainability.
For the 2018 South Sound Green Tour we’re proud to present Madison Passive House, and we look forward to all of the discussions to come.

That’s A Wrap
Whew! That was a lot of news! And we still didn’t touch on some of the large remodel and addition work we’ve been busy with! This is my fourth exclamation point in this paragraph!
All joking aside, though - design and construction in the Pacific Northwest is going bananas right now and everyone’s schedules are extremely full. We look forward to giving you updates along the way, and we look forward to hearing from you about the amazing project you’ve been drawing on napkins and collecting photos for.
