Mid Century Bathroom Remodel

As the marketing person at The Artisans Group, part of my job is to coordinate photo shoots of our projects. Yesterday,  I had the opportunity to go  to a lovely bathroom remodel project we recently completed out on Cooper Point, with a 180 degree  view of Bud Bay.  The home originally started out as a cabin sometime in the early part of the last century, some time around the mid century the cabin was remodeled into a home with definitive modern architectural elements. Clean lines, large low pitched roof planes, pleasing geometry.

The current homeowners had been living in the home for the past 25 years. They did practically no updating other than a minor kitchen remodel a few years ago. In this current go around, the home owners had us completely tear out and remodel 4  bathrooms. Two half baths and two full baths.

Our designer, Diane Gassman, had full reign on the redesign of the four baths, she couldn’t help telling me how fun the job was, “it’s a the dream of all designers to be able to just go for it and use our own design ideas from start to finish!“. In my opinion, she nailed it. Her selections were spot on, very modern, very classic, very retro, very subtle, very elegant. Very nice. A strange collection of adjectives, but all true.

The little powder room with the sparkling presence was influenced by the granddaughter. She wanted a bit of blue in ‘her’ bath… the result is a combination of natural seaside colors with a tasteful hit of splash.

The stunning background tile is called “Gold Medley Crystal Rounds”. These tile rounds are metal,  honed and polished glass. The countertop was selected for it’s understated elegance and beauty, not to compete with but to enhance the enchanting tile work. It’s made by Pental and is a Chroma Quartz Polished slab in eggshell. The handcrafted Crystal cabinets were selected for the same reason. The flooring is made up of unexpectedly over sized  20 x 20 porcelain tiles in a linen pattern, again, by Pental called “Live Feel”.  The wall finishes provide soft contrast to the earthy hues, Devine Paint “Beluga” is a perfect fit in this wonderfully spirited yet calm room.  The lighting hearkens back to mid century modern, yet is so classic. The water fixtures are by Kohler.

Nothing about this room looks dated in any way, yet can be of any era depending on how you view it. What I walked away thinking was that this bathroom will stand the test of time and will still look beautiful in another 50 years.
